Cold is ... Hot is...

These poems were a result of extension work when the children were asked to write about other topics rather than colours and feelings.

Cold is the ice on the water and when we step on it, it breaks.
Cold is the planet Pluto, an ice land in outer space.
Cold is the wind blowing every day in my face and it is annoying.
Cold is the ice cream that I eat.

Nick

Cold is the ice on the flower pot because of the frost.
Cold is the beer that my Dad drinks because it has been in the fridge too long.
Cold is the ice-block once it has been in the freezer for long enough.
Cold is the ice on my deck from the frost.

Alex M

Cold is the ice-block because it's been in the freezer.
Cold is the wind blowing in the air.
Cold is the rain falling from the clouds.
Cold is the ice on the grass.

George

Hot is the lava about to erupt from the volcano when it is bubbling because it is hot.
Hot are the flames flickering in the fire.
Hot is the bonfire when we put oil on it.
Hot is the desert because there is a line going around the Earth and there is no water so the people have to dig wells.

Reid

Hot is the lava in the volcano.
Hot is the sun burning me.
Hot is the fire burning wood when it is snowing.
Hot are fireworks exploding outside.

Seamus
